I. Executive Summary

Slikstr has positioned itself as the world's first user-created and -controlled company in the world and, as such, is poised to usher in a new generation of web-related businesses. While traditional companies utilize a "top-down" approach to decision making-where the customers or "users" of a service or product are entirely removed from the provider's decision making aparatus-Slikstr is different, utilizing a "user-is-boss" mentality. Indeed, every facet of Slikstr is designed with the intention of providing the individual user with as much control over the company as possible.

To this end, all documents related to the company's internal decision making will be made publicly available to our users who can then use that information during the company Board meetings-to be held in Second Life-to weigh in with their opinions on the matter. Corporate decisions made in these meetings will be binding and treated with the same respect that any directive handed down from a company's Board of Directors would be.

To this end, this Business Plan is posted in advance of its adoption as policy so that the users may also offer their input. Treat this wiki as a living document and if you have an idea that you think would make Slikstr a better company, please do not hesitate to add it to this page.

II. Services/Description of Business

Slikstr has positioned itself as the world's first user-created and -controlled company in the world. We therefore provide our users with an ability to each have a stake in a web-related company. In order to do this, Slikstr has developed a multi-layered, multimedia hub environment that is specifically designed to make any and all user interactions with the company and efficient and pleasant as possible.

III. Marketing

Slikstr has one of the largest pools of people in the world to draw from: the users of the Internet. As such, there is no one specific demographic that Slikstr can target: indeed, the Internet has rendered ideas such as age and gender somewhat obsolete. However, whereas most traditional companies in this case would pander and cater to the lowest-common-denominator, Slikstr, on the other hand, has decided to go the other direction and truly customize their business by allowing the user themself to become the company's chief decision maker. Thus, Slikstr's being a user-created and -controlled company can be seen as a natural outgrowth of the Internet's tendency towards greater customization.

IV. Competition

Slikstr is uniquely positioned at the moment because it is the only company of its kind. Namely, Slikstr is the world's first and only (to date) user-created and -controlled company. As such, there is minimal projected competition in any of the markets targeted and can be expected to enjoy a near-monopoly on the industry for the moment.

V. Advertising and Public Relations

Owing to its unique business model, advertising and public relations are key areas of focus for Slikstr. Our business requires that we acquire users' attention in unique and original ways and to that end Slikstr has prepared several avenues for attracting notice. First, there is the company wiki and blog, which although its the oldest form of interactive outreach we're currently using, is reliable and efficient for attracting attention. Second off, we have formed a relationship with YouTube and will be releasing videos documenting the day-to-day lives of the employees of Slikstr, which will go a long way in establishing the human face of Slikstr. Finally, our most innovative idea is that of the Second Life Board meetings: these meetings are both a new and fresh idea that will guarantee maximum exposure and efficiency of interaction.
